Gravel campsites are great. 2 lake access points on our site. The only thing to be careful of is TONS of poison sumac and poison ivy. Absolutely surrounded by the largest poision sumac plants I have ever seen. Other than that it's great.
We love Payne. its right around the corner from our house, so we are able to easily go to and from home to feed the cats. we enjoy the no wake area of the lake. we swim and fish, cookout, jet ski, kayak, enjoy campfires and more. there always seems to be a nice sense of community here with the campers. I typically see bunnies and geese, not much else. the side we typically stay there are not many trees so likely why I don't see as much deer. it's peaceful here.
Campground is a great place to camp out there's water showers for. Men and women play Ground for kids also.....
I love this campground. The primitive sites are the best. Only thing I can complain about is there is only one restroom-shower for the whole campground and it's a pretty good walk from all the campsites.
The staff is an absolute joy. They made us feel welcomed and like family. We have camped all around Lake Allatoona, and this campground is by far our favorite. There is no comparison to the views of the water. We also really enjoyed the fact that it was a smaller, more intimate campground. Highly suggest checking this gem out!
