The boating staff is equally helpful. We went shopping for kayaks and got a good education. There are other stores that have a bigger selection of kayaks, but their selection isn't too shabby, just average.
Never seem to have a good size assortment in stock for hunting gear. Always have to track down staff for assistance, as they're never openly helpful (you get the feeling they never want to help, either). All the more reason to shop Amazon. Fishing section is nice witg a decent selection, though.
Lastly, it's great that Cabelas and Bass Pro are now one company and you can use gift cards between stores now!
The shooting and hunting staff is well educated, and the store is well equipped. If they don't have stock, they help you order online, typically with free S&H as an apology.

Not nearly as busy as I had expected given that the big sales started this weekend. Found some good sales on .22 ammo, some select clothing items and cast iron cookware.
Great outdoor gear! Prices are a bit high, but good quality. Almost everything thing I have ever bought here has lasted awhile. Love the fireplace in the front with couches, always makes feel I'm in a lodge. Especially this time of year, when starts getting a little colder.
Utmost importance in firearms...find a full-time employee. Can be difficult when number system is used. 3 separate visits and all three times part time help...little knowledge of firearms, not helpful, and a can't wait till my shift is over. The good. I wait until I can snag an experienced person, then it's off to the races. These folks know firearms, accessories etc.
Everyone working at the store that we spoke to were pleasant and helpful. While they don't have the best prices on everything, I certainly enjoy shopping there most of the time and can usually find something worthwhile in the bargain cave (go all the way to the back, passed the shoe section) if not other departments.
